Personal profile

Research Interests

For several years, I have been interested in the professional development of physical therapists working in different roles. This interest led to exploring physical therapists' development of cultural competence and client-centered care, which led to examining physical therapists' knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding patients' health literacy. Currently, I am mentoring students who exploring the relationship between health literacy, teaching used, and performance of a home exercise program and working with Lois Hedman to investigate affective behaviors that influence physical therapists' clinical reasoning.

I am Course Director for Psychosocial Aspects of Human Behavior I and II, and Professional Role Development II and III and serve on the PTHMS Global Health Committee.
