Personal profile

Research Interests

I received my medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 2005, prior to completing my Pediatrics residency at the University of Texas Southwestern/Children's Medical Center Dallas. I completed a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in 2015 and a fellowship in Developmental Therapeutics in 2016 at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University/Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. I subsequently became a member of the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology division at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago in July 2016.

My research interests involve the study of pediatric high-risk renal tumors and their underlying genetic drivers. As a member of the Children's Oncology Group's Renal Tumor Committee and the Pediatric Preclinical Testing Consortium Disease Committee, I participate in the development of new therapeutic clinical trials, including early phase clinical trials, for renal tumor patients. I was recently named as the Developmental Therapeutics lead for the Renal Tumor Committee. In addition, I am also focused on analysis of circulating exosomes from pediatric solid tumor patients as biomarkers for use in diagnosis, monitoring of treatment response, and early detection of relapse.

My clinical focus centers on the treatment of pediatric solid tumor patients, including those with renal tumors, liver tumors, germ cell tumors, and sarcomas. Through my work with the Children's Oncology Group's Renal Disease Committee, I participate in the development of new therapeutic clinical trials for renal tumor patients. I was recently named as the Developmental Therapeutics lead for the Renal Tumor Committee. I am also involved in the Fertility and Hormone Preservation and Restoration Program, which provides counseling and fertility preservation options to patients receiving treatments that are likely to impact their future reproductive potential.
