Research Interests
My lab's primary research interest is on Siglec-8, a receptor expressed on human eosinophils and mast cells, how it signals and functions, what are its natural sialoside ligands, and whether it can be leveraged as a therapeutic target. Regarding the latter, we have generated Siglec-8 knock-in mice for preclinical studies of Siglec-8 biology and targeting in mouse models. We have also initiated studies on Siglec-6 function in human mast cells, and how pharmacologic inhibition of Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK) in mast cells and basophils protects from anaphylaxis in vitro and in vivo.
My primary clinical interests are in eosinophil- and mast-cell associated diseases, including hypereosinophilic syndromes and systemic mastocytosis. I am also interested in anaphylaxis and other allergic diseases.
