Research Interests
Dr. Hammond practices General Obstetrics and Gynecology and also directs the Northwestern Center for Family Planning and Contraception. Subspecialty interests include contraception and abortion among medically compromised patients; first and second trimester medical and surgical abortion; sterilization, including Essure and Adiana Hysteroscopic Sterilizations; gynecologic care of women with HIV; contraception, sterilization and abortion among women with physical and cognitive disabilities. Dr. Hammond's current research focuses on how contraceptives modify transmission of HIV virus.
