Personal profile

Research Interests

I attended college at the University of Notre Dame, studying Biology and Spanish. In 2013, I graduated from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine with an MD/MPH and focus in leadership development, then completed a Pediatrics residency and Chief residency from McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University/Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. I subsequently completed a Pediatric Critical Care Medicine fellowship from the same institution, then joined as faculty in the Department of Pediatrics in 2020.

Academic Focus

I am interested in data-driven outcomes research, specifically defining physiology-based phenotypes of critical illness and short-term outcomes for critically ill children with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). I hope to better define the clinical phenotypes of children who experience MODS, which I can then use to develop predictive models to identify children most at risk for clinical decompensation. If these at-risk children can be identified earlier and their clinical phenotype defined more specifically, we can use a more personalized approach to their care, intervening differently and improving their outcomes.

Clinical Focus

I am a pediatric critical care specialist and treat critically ill children with sepsis, respiratory failure, renal failure, and MODS, as well as many other conditions. I have a strong interest in improving hospital outcomes for critically ill children, as well as improving the way we deliver care and implement new research and guidelines.
