Research Interests
Dr. Kyriacou is Professor of Emergency Medicine and Preventive Medicine at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. His medical degree is from the University of Michigan and his residency training was in emergency medicine at the Los Angeles County + University of Southern California Medical Center. He also has a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Michigan and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in epidemiology from the UCLA School of Public Health where his dissertation project was on risk factors for injury from domestic violence. In addition, Dr. Kyriacou has a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Dr. Kyriacou’s research interests also include injury prevention, clinical infectious diseases, and health services. Dr. Kyriacou has mentored numerous medical students, residents, and junior faculty on clinical and epidemiological research methods, resulting in several publications and the awarding of numerous master’s degrees. Dr. Kyriacou’s research endeavors have been recognized with awards from the Emergency Medicine Foundation and the University of California/California Wellness Foundation. Dr. Kyriacou has also international experience, having worked in Ghana and Ethiopia. He was recently appointed to the Fulbright Specialist Roster.
