Research Interests

I am a cognitive neuroscientist who specializes in learning and memory.

Memory shapes how we see and explore the world, and I am actively investigating how this works. How does memory shape existing memory representations and lead to either memory change or memory stability? How does memory influence how we explore the world and incorporate new information into existing memories? These questions guide my research. I use a variety of methods to investigate fundamental memory mechanisms, including fMRI, EEG, TMS, and eye-movement tracking. Some exciting research projects I am currently working on involve direct neural recordings (iEEG) from the hippocampus of epileptic patients. I am linking hippocampal oscillatory activity to eye movements during memory formation to better understand how the hippocampus guides eye movements to support learning.

I am interested in evaluating cognitive outcomes following treatment for refractory epilepsy. Two common treatments for drug-resistant epilepsy are resection and chronic deep-brain stimulation. I am investigating memory performance following each of these treatments to determine how each treatment affects hippocampal-dependent memory processing.
