Dr. Hirai's research interest focus on Lung and vascular progenitor cells/stem cells and the molecular mechanisms of Lung and vascular disease.

Dr. Hirai joined Northwestern University in July 2018 from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Dr. Hirai completed his postdoctoral training in Molecular pharmacology and Stem cell biology at Northwestern University, Chicago and University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
