Professor Chaves research areas are information economics, market design, and political economy. He is especially interested in dynamic pricing and the effects of transparency on dynamic markets. His current work focuses on how to design market rules when these rules can affect the composition of traders in the market across time. His political economy work has studied, among other things, the persistence and effects of pre-colonial institutions on economic development in West Africa.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
