1983-1988 M.Sc. University of Warsaw, Poland - Biology / Biochemistry 1989-1996 Ph.D. Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland - Biology / Biochemistry 1997-2002 Research Associate with Dr. Lilianna Solnica-Krezel, Department of Biological Sciences, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee - Zebrafish developmental Biology

My research focuses on the application of the zebrafish model to study biological processes underlying human disorders. I am particularly interested in the processes that control formation of cartilages and bone. My laboratory studies the role of heparin sulfate proteoglycans from the glypican family in this process and their relation to Wnt/PCP pathway regulating cell polarity and movements. In addition, we investigate the role of cholesterol biosynthesis in the process of skeletogenesis. In several collaborative projects, I am involved in developing zebrafish model of pediatric disease and cancers.
