Personal profile

Research Interests

My primary focus lies in the realm of Quality Improvement, both within our Division, the hospital, medical school and our Community partnerships. Beginning with education at the medical student level, exposure to the promotion of quality within medicine will enable future physicians to provide care which is safe, equitable, efficient, effective, timely and patient-centered. Through the direction of quality initiatives at both the academic and community level, this care can be optimized and coordinated, ensuring evidence-based care delivery to patients no matter where their care is obtained. As Co-Director of Quality within our Division, my goal is focused on building a sound foundation for quality improvement efforts and the promotion of rigorous QI methodology, which will allow our efforts to extend beyond Lurie's walls both locally and nationally. My clinical and educational efforts lie in both the academic and community hospital setting and focus on promoting the subspecialty of Pediatric Emergency Medicine in the through the development and cultivation of partnerships between community hospitals and academic Pediatric centers.

My academic focus lies within the domain of healthcare quality and patient safety, process improvement and in studying the human factors involved in diagnostic error.

Providing evidence-based care to all patients, regardless of site of care.
