Research Interests

Dr. Flaherty is an associate professor of medicine in Interventional Cardiology and severes as the medical director of the coronary care unit (CCU) of Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and advanced heart failure & transplant cardiology. He has severed as the principal investigator for several research trials, including those related to heart valve therapies. He is the course director for the CME conference: Chicago Case-Based Coronary & Structural Heart Intervention Update. In 2012, he was a recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award by the Department of Medicine. In 2008, he was recognized as the Most Outstanding Fellow Teacher by the Division of Cardiology.
