Research Interests

My current laboratory research involves potential antidepressant therapeutic strategies revolving around manipulation of a brain-specific subunit of hyperpolarization-activated, cyclic nucleotide-gated ion channels. I also am involved with clinical research related to the care of children with stroke and other types of acute brain injuries.

My research interests focus on basic mechanisms underlying depression and neurologic sequelae of acute brain injuries, and on improving the care of children with neurologic critical illness.

My clinical focus is in pediatric neurocritical care, including the care of children with stroke, traumatic brain injury, status epilepticus, neurologic complications of critical illness, and other acute neurologic dysfunction.
