Research Interests

Dr. Kaiser received a PhD in Sociology from Indiana University in 2006. She then completed her postdoctoral research training in cancer prevention and control in the National Cancer Institute R25T Cancer Education and Career Development Program at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Kaiser joined the Department of Medical Social Sciences in the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University in 2010.

Dr. Kaiser’s research focuses on patient understandings of disease, treatment decision making, and patient reported outcome measure development. She is particularly interested in breast cancer patient surgical decision making and women's understandings of their risk of future cancer. She has extensive training and experience in qualitative research methods. Her work has been funded by the American Cancer Society, the Robert H. Lurie Cancer Center, and the National Cancer Institute.
