Dr. Kan's relationships with families and partnerships with communities, as a primary care pediatrician and health services researcher, motivate her to improve our scientific understanding of health services delivery for children with special health care needs (CSHCN) and to build cross-sectoral solutions to support CSHCNs and their families.
Dr. Kan is a primary care pediatrician and health services and health policy researcher. As a physician-investigator, she aims to inform the design of health policies and programs that optimize health care access and quality of care for children with chronic diseases. Her work will include a central focus on understanding the specific needs that exist for ethnic/minority communities, for whom tailoring of health systems and community-based approaches is important.
She serves patients at the Lurie Children's Uptown Clinic and precepts pediatric residents during continuity clinic.
