I completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan and matriculated to Wayne State University School of Medicine. I finished his residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan and went on to do a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. I then joined the Northwestern University faculty in 1993 and quickly established a niche in operative laparoscopy being appointed the Director of Gynecologic Endoscopy in 1995. In 1997, I returned to school while working full-time to obtain a Masters in Academic Medicine at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. In October 2000, I assumed the position of Division Chief for Graduate Medical Education and supervised the residency program for 13 years. I have authored approximately 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts and similar number of national presentations. I serve as a reviewer to multiple prestigious journals and have several grants to study endoscopic techniques, equipment and diseases amenable to surgical intervention. I have mentored over 100 residents and fellows in advanced endoscopic techniques and have been course director of over 40 training programs.
My academic focus includes surgical safety and reducing complications.
As Chief of Gynecology and Gynecologic Surgery, I perform advanced minimally invasive surgeries including laparoscopy, hysteroscopy for conditions of endometriosis, fibroids, adhesions, tubal disease and ovarian cysts. I perform laparoscopic total and subtotal hysterectomy, myomectomy, cystectomy and hysteroscopic removal of fibroids and adhesions. I have also developed expertise in the area of vaginal agenesis and other Mullarian anomalies.
