Personal profile
Research Interests
I am a pediatric emergency medicine physician and educator who began my work at Northwestern and Lurie Children's in 2001, having completed residency and fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital. I am the Director of the Founder of the kidSTAR Healthcare Education Program.
I am interested in the development of graduate education curricula based on robust assessment programs. I am particularly focused on communicating to peers about current validity frameworks and how they apply to the development of assessments. I developed and implemented a resident research curriculum (Resident as Scholars) to facilitate and support trainee scholarship. I am actively involved in the Society for Simulation in Healthcare and the INSPIRE pediatric simulation research consortium. I have been recognized for my educational scholarship, having been selected to the International Society for Simulation in Healthcare's Simulation Academy and to the Academic Pediatric Association's National Academy of Distinguished Educators in Pediatrics. I am also an elected fellow of the Society for Pediatric Research.
I am currently a subject matter expert of the Education Core within the Pediatric Pandemic Network Grant, a multi-institutional effort to improve the care of children in disasters.
