Personal profile

Research Interests

My primary research interests include: 1) investigating the sensory-motor mechanisms that underlie postural control in individuals who have neuromuscular or musculoskeletal pathology and use assistive devices; and 2) integrating mechanical characterization of prostheses and orthoses with numerical simulation and human subject testing to explore the fundamental relationships between device properties and user performance. I manage the Prosthetics and Orthotics Rehabilitation Technology Assessment Laboratory (PORTAL) of the NU Prosthetics-Orthotics Center (NUPOC). I instruct materials science, research methodology, and clinical outcome measures as related to Prosthetics and Orthotics. I mentor NUPOC Master’s of Prosthetics and Orthotics students and supervise their capstone research projects from inception through completion.
