Personal profile

Research Interests

I am an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and an attending physician in Cardiology at Lurie Children’s Hospital. I completed a post-graduate degree in public health from Yale University with a focus in epidemiology and biostatistics; clinical fellowship in pediatric cardiology from Nationwide Children’s Hospital (Ohio State University) and non-invasive cardiac imaging at Children’s Hospital Boston (Harvard Medical School). My interests include clinical pediatric cardiology and non-invasive cardiac imaging; including echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging as well as application of the newer modality of deformation imaging in congenital heart disease. In addition to my clinical and research interests, I have a strong interest in education and direct the medical student clerkship in pediatric cardiology and the Fellow Education in Imaging committee. I serve on the Advisory Editorial Board for the journal Pediatric Cardiology.

My research interests include application of the newer techniques of deformation imaging (strain and strain rate) in pediatric heart disease with an aim to gain insights into patterns of myocardial dysfunction. I am also interested in the utility of tissue characterization and stress perfusion analysis by cardiac MR to evaluate rejection and vasculopathy post cardiac transplant.

My clinical interests include the use of non-invasive cardiac imaging; including echocardiography, fetal echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging to evaluate and manage children and adults with congenital heart disease. I am also involved in developing a center for excellence in pediatric coronary artery anomalies at Lurie Children's Hospital
