Personal profile
Research Interests
I am interested in the impact of pulmonary vascular disease in pediatric patients. Through clinical and research efforts, I have been studying the role of pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary vascular disease in neonatal patients with lung diseases (including bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH)) by evaluating for interactions between the respiratory and circulatory dysfunction. Collaborations with other researchers and clinicians has led to the development of programmatic approaches for these patients.
My research interests include clinical characterization of and management strategies for children with pulmonary vascular disease, including infants with chronic respiratory failure associated with prematurity or congenital anomalies.
My clinical efforts focus on the care of critically ill neonates, and children with pulmonary hypertension. As a neonatologist, I am particularly interested in infants with chronic respiratory failure, the use of advanced strategies for mechanical ventilation, and invasive evaluation of causes and degrees of respiratory dysfunction. As Co-Director for the Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension Program, I am involved in the evaluation and management of children with pulmonary hypertension, including the use of aggressive and combination pulmonary vasodilator medications and other strategies.
