Personal profile

Research Interests

My background includes seven years in hospital practice and 28 years in private practice. As a private practitioner I focused on outpatient orthopaedic physical therapy, including post-surgical rehabilitation, chronic pain, industrial ergonomics, functional testing of injured workers, pre-employment screening, and job analysis.

Upon joining academia at Northwestern in 2010 my work has focused on creating opportunities for integration of clinical practice within the Department of Physical Therapy & Human Movement Sciences, including development of a collaboration agreement and physical therapy residency program with the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. Current research interest is in the use of hand-held dynamometry to obtain quantitative strength measures in daily practice to better track patient progress and outcomes.
