She received a VA in Psychology and Spanish from Tufts University, an MPH in Epidemiology from the San Diego State University Graduate School of Public Health, and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the San Diego State University / University of California, San Diego Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology. She also completed an APA-accredited clinical internship at Rush University Medical Center, and a postdoctoral fellowship in cancer control and survivorship at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
Dr. Fox's research is broadly focused on delineating how psychosocial processes impact adjustment to and coping with chronic illness, with an emphasis on symptom management and health related quality of life (HRQOL) in cancer and scleroderma. She is particularly interested in the role of sleep disturbance and fatigue in HRQOL, and the development of interventions to improve these outcomes. Dr. Fox is also interested in better understanding the chronobiological mechanisms underlying symptom burden, as well as addressing health disparities experienced by underrepresented groups with chronic illnesses.
