Professor Linrothe's interests are in the history and development of Himalayan Buddhist art and material culture, esoteric Buddhist art, Buddhist art and theory, and esoteric Buddhism in East, South, and Southeast Asia. His research is mainly based on fieldwork in Ladakh and Zangskar.
