Personal profile

Research Interests

I completed complete training in pediatrics and pediatric cardiology as well as adult internal medicine and adult cardiology. This affords me both a unique perspective on the long-term management of patients born with congenital heart disease, but allows me to fully integrate into the care of patients across the full age spectrum. This is reflected in my clinical responsibilities, which range from attending on the consultation service at Lurie Childrens, assessing pediatric patients from neonates to adolescents, to my primary responsibilities attending to adults with congenital heart disease at both Lurie Children's and Northwestern Memorial Hospitals. Similarly, this range of clinical experience allows me to carry expertise developed in one setting to another environment that may benefit from that expertise - both clinically and academically.

My academic interests have focused on the use of multimodality noninvasive imaging of congenital heart disease, utilizing cardiac MRI, cardiac CT angiography, and echocardiography. I am also involved in assessing long-term outcomes in congenital heart disease (such as liver complications of the Fontan palliation) and the impact of different types of assessment and therapy.

My clinical focus is on the assessment and management of adult patients with congenital heart disease. Clinical care is complemented by noninvasive imaging with echocardiography and cardiac MRI. I have also established partnerships with other disciplines essential to the optimal management of our patients, such as hepatology, which is essential for managing some complications of congenital heart disease.
