Research Interests

My clinical interest include congenital heart defects and cardiac imaging including pediatric and fetal echocardiography. My specific interest include perinatal cardiology and cardiac care of patients with Turner Syndrome. I work with the Chicago Institute for Fetal Health to provide perinatal cardiology expertise. I co-direct the multidisciplinary Turner's syndrome clinic at Lurie. My research interests are in evaluating outcomes in congenital heart defects; with special focus on single ventricle heart defect and Fontan palliation.

Education and teaching: Education of pediatric cardiology fellows, general pediatric residents and medical students through didactic lectures, small group teachings and mentorship. - Dr. Patel is co-director of monthly fetal case conference at Lurie. This conference is focused on fellow education as well as improving clinical care - Dr. Patel has designed and implemented "Fetal cardiology: Core curriculum lecture series" for cardiology fellowship education which is a series of 12 didactic talks given over one year to cardiology categorical fellows as well as advanced imaging fellow.
