Research Interests
CLINICAL INTEREST: Kawasaki Disease, Pediatric Infections, Infective Endocarditis, Rheumatic Fever, Group A Strep Infections, and History of Medicine. RESEARCH INTEREST: My research interest focuses on the epidemiology and antibiotic resistance of Group A streptococci and streptococcal and post-streptococcal illnesses. I am also involved in several aspects of Kawasaki Disease, including studies relating to the etiology, pathogenesis and treatment of this important disease. As chairman of the Infection Prevention and Control Committee, my interests also involve the areas of hospital and community epidemiology of pediatric infectious diseases and nosocomial infections. I am also interested in the history of medicine, particularly related to pediatrics and infectious diseases.
