Personal profile

Research Interests

The overall theme of my research is to identify, characterize and target the genes that help in the progression of aggressive prostate cancers. During my postdoctoral fellowship, I developed novel approaches to identify outlier kinases in breast and pancreatic cancer and studied the role of these kinases in oncogenic progression. I continued to apply this novel matrix to identify novel biomarkers to distinguish indolent from aggressive prostate cancer and to interrogate therapeutic targets in advanced prostate cancer. Apart from identifying biomarkers and therapeutic targets, I also have an expertise in delineating oncogenic signaling and resistance mechanisms and carry out translational research. My goal is to delineate the molecular and biological differences between the prostate cancers in African-American and Caucasian men, to help progress the field towards personalized medicine.
