Research Interests

I got M.D and Ph.D degrees in China and post-doctoral training in Japan and U.S.A.

My primary research interest is focusing on the mucosal immunology and infection diseases in the gut. Gut represents the first portal of pathogen exposure and is the major site of development of inflammatory disorders. Macrophages are heterogeneous; they polarize to different subsets with various phenotypes and functions by environment factors in the gut. My long term object is to identify critical molecules involved in macrophages polarization, understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms of polarization and explore the interactions of macrophages to epithelium in gut injury and reconstitution, finally to provide practical information for clinical work.
