Research Interests

Dr. Zhang’s translational imaging laboratory (80% effort) at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center has all the state-of-the art equipment for cancer research. Dr. Zhang’s research focuses on novel image-guided cancer immunotherapy including natural killer and dendritic cell-based immunotherapy, image-guided small molecular inhibitor and antibody immunotherapy, image-guided combination therapies of local ablation and targeted immunotherapy, image-guided drug delivery for cancer. Zhang team works on rabbit, mouse and rat tumor models to optimize and develop MRI sequences for the assessment of therapeutic response. Dr. Zhang joined the Quantitative Imaging Core Lab (QICL, 20% effort) of Northwestern University for clinical trials since March, 2014. As Manager of Quality and Regulatory Affairs of QICL, Dr. Zhang been working with Dr. Vahid Yaghmai in setting up business models as well as drafting necessary documentations including Imaging Protocol Development, Imaging Acquisition Site Credentialing and Training, Quality Control (QC) protocol, and Image Analysis and Interpretation. QICL provides a comprehensive set of quantitative imaging services for clinical and research purposes, in particular in oncology and for evaluation of responses to cancer therapies. To date, the QICL has reviewed imaging protocols and analyzed images for over 100 industry- and investigator-initiated clinical trials. Under the guidance and leadership of Dr. Vahid Yaghmai, QICL will establish the most comprehensive solution to help execute efficient and effective imaging clinical phase 1-3 trials.
