2013 Dwight David Eisenhower Graduate Fellowship

The Technology Partnership Programs (TPP) is pleased to inform you that Mr. Matthew Pettit has been selected to receive a 2013 Dwight David Eisenhower Graduate Fellowship. The estimated amount of the fellowship is $5,000. The objective of the Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program (DDETFP) is to attract qualified students to the field of transportation and research, and advance transportation workforce development. As the world continues to grow in population there are a few certainties about the future of transportation. One that people and goods will continue to have to travel from point A to point B and two, this challenge, must be met within the evolving energy and environmental policies of the coming decades. I am applying to the Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship to secure my chance to engineer new solutions to these pressing societal issues. My undergraduate background at Carnegie Mellon University in both Civil Engineering, and Engineering and Public Policy, has provided me with opportunities to engage in extensive research. In addition, after exhausting Carnegie Mellon’s transportation curriculum, I sought out the opportunity to take another transportation course at the University of Pittsburgh. This multidiscipline background has prepared me to excel in conducting transportation research within a transportation systems Masters program and furthermore reach my ultimate goal of helping shape the transportation industry.
