Description
Experiments involving mice will be performed at Northwestern University’s Center for Comparative Medicine via an animal protocol which will be approved before funding begins by Northwestern University’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee in accord with the NIH guidelines for the humane care of animals. The policies and procedures of the animal laboratory are in accordance with those detailed in the guide for the “Care and Use of Laboratory Animals” published by the US Department of Health and Human Services. The CCM staff is available for veterinarian consultation regarding animal health and welfare in all facilities. All personnel involved in proposed studies will complete the Research Practice Training Fundamentals on the ethics use of animals in research. All animal work requires approval by the IACUC and Occupational Health and Safety Program (OHSP).
