A pediatric human lung cell atlas from genetically diverse subjects (tissue diversity RFA)

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Project summary: We propose to build on the successful collection of paediatric airway and lung samples within CZI Human Lung seed network and expand sample collection to increase profiling of subjects from racially, ethnically, or ancestrally diverse sources. We have already collected samples from 38 paediatric subjects, mostly White, across 5 age groups. We now propose to collect an additional 15 samples across the same age groups, specifically from Black and Asian paediatric subjects. Thus, over 30% of subjects in our final cohort will be from ethnically diverse backgrounds. All protocols and workflows are already established in our group and we have demonstrated our ability to collect paediatric airway and lung samples even amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
