Project Details
Description
Anxiety is a common comorbidity in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) which negatively affects quality of life and predicts mortality. Since many somatic symptoms of COPD and anxiety overlap, using standard anxiety assessments designed for the general population may not properly identify anxiety in COPD sufferers. Researchers developed the Anxiety Inventory for Respiratory Disease (AIR) questionnaire to better detect anxiety in this population. The goal of the Anxiety and COPD Evaluation (ACE) study is to validate this scale by administering the AIR questionnaire to 200 participants with COPD. Psychological, health status, cognitive, medical, and respiratory measures will also be collected.
