Project Details
Description
We propose a continuation of the X-ray follow up of GW170817 as soon as it becomes available from Sun constraint. The main goal of this proposal is to map the late-time behavior of the X-ray emission from GW170817, which will allow us to improve current constraints on the parameters of the merger (jet energetics, off-axis angle, jet structure) and of the environment (density). This is part of our multiwavelength effort with approved observations in the radio (VLA- ongoing) and HST. We provide details about our simulations of o↵-axis jet and our observing strategy in the attached SJ.
