Project Details
Description
The overarching goal of this project is to develop and evaluate implantable and bioresorbable
radio frequency (RF) coils for high-resolution and high-specificity post-surgical monitoring with
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The immediate target application of this work is the
evaluation of peripheral nerve regeneration following surgical repair. The Rogers lab at NWU will fabricate RF coils using bioresorbable materials and benchtop test their performance. The expected outcomes over the two-year project are an average of 2 prototype implantable coil designs per month sent from NWU to VU for MRI testing in phantoms, rats, or human cadaver arms. The NWU and Vanderbilt groups will meet bi-weekly by Skype to discuss results and design ideas.
