Biosignature Preservation in Sulfate-Dominated Hypersaline Environments

Dr. Osburn is a Co-Investigator on this proposal to the NASA Exobiology solicitation and is the primary lead on lipid biomarker-based investigations. CoI Osburn will participate in the field expeditions to British Columbia to acquire samples and environmental information. She will lead the analysis of collected sedimentary cores in the GeoCaL laboratory suite and analysis of organic isotopes in the Northwestern Stable isotope Laboratory. CoI Osburn will supervise the graduate student responsible for extracting and preparing lipid biomarkers for analysis and will oversee the analysis of these samples.
