Description
We propose a collaborative research program to (1) update theoretical models of nova outbursts
and their time-dependent ejecta, (2) connect the hydrodynamical outflow models to predictions for
the resulting multi-wavelength emission powered by internal shocks; and (3) compare these models
to commensurate radio, optical, X-ray, and gamma-ray observations of novae, obtained in part by
targeted Swift and Chandra programs.. This program will harness recent observational and computational advances to provide new insights into the nova mechanism and to develop them into probes of shock physics.
