Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Dr. Liu has identified a novel functional role of lymphatics in heart development and repair, and this work has recently published in Nature. Her exciting data demonstrated that lymphangiocrine signaling plays important functional roles in ischemic heart diseases. This finding is novel and groundbreaking, as it identified an unexpected mechanism by which lymphatics participate in the process of heart repair. Following on this exciting finding, her work in progress is to validate and characterize the molecular mechanisms participating in that process in order to understand how lymphatics improve heart repair and eventually identify novel molecular targets for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
