Description
This proposal is nested in a larger body of long-term collaborative work aimed improving timeliness of definitive trauma care in the US. The failure of timely re-triage of severely injured patients in urban, teaching hospitals has been repeatedly documented.22,27 The literature focuses on the low density of high-level trauma centers in rural settings limiting access to trauma care due to longer transport distances.29 The density of urban trauma centers and its influence on timely re-triage is limited.
