Clinical Outcomes Measurements of Fracture Treatment: State of the Art Comprehensive Outcome Measurement in Extremity Fractures

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The goal of this proposal is to produce research that will allow orthopaedic surgeons to utilize input from two modes of patient-derived outcome measurement in order to direct fracture treatment, aftercare, and rehabilitation. One module focusing on translation and validation of patient-reported outcome measurements (PRO) – centered on the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) -- while the other module of the will focus on continuous gait measurement through the OpenGO insole device. These modules will also be integrated by measuring the association between physical measurements with PROMIS instruments. Together, our consortium’s projects will advance the current knowledge around the meaning of PRO scores so that clinicians can better utilize them in decision-making for fracture care.
