Project Details
Description
The proposed project will identify how high school students can be supported to understand ST data. Today’s
students will enter a world in which analyzing and making decisions about ST data is central. We must conduct
foundational work at an equal pace to understand how to support them in doing so. By building on starting
points from existing lines of work, this project will conduct use-inspired basic research into one of the most
pressing questions of our era—how we can understand and support learners’ needs in ways that could permit
them to explore and analyze ST data. In doing so, this project represents a crucial first step toward preparing
all learners for life and work in a radically transformed world steeped in ST data. Through its highly
interdisciplinary work, the project will pursue a single targeted goal: to understand how high-school learners
understand and analyze spatiotemporal data.
