Project Details
Description
To address the challenges in automating design of complex microstructural systems, the objective of this interdisciplinary research proposal is to develop a design methodology that provides a seamless integration of design optimization, predictive materials modeling, processing and surface engineering, to enable the accelerated design and development of new materials. Using the emerging nanodielectric polymer system as a testbed, and through the synergy of experts
in engineering design, mechanics, and materials science, we propose a computational microstructure design framework and a combined theoretical, computational, and experimental approach to design and engineer new nanocomposites with tailored dielectric and mechanical properties for a range of emerging applications.
