Collaborative Research: Workshop on Acquiring and Sharing Data within the CMMI Research Community

This workshop will highlight the key issues that must be addressed to realize the full impact and use of big data on the research areas represented in the Division of Civil, Mechanical and Manufacturing Innovation (CMMI). This workshop will bring together the CMMI research community to: • develop an overall strategy and short term research agenda for capturing and sharing large volumes of data on infrastructure systems, advanced materials and manufacturing innovations; • recommend methods and techniques for making large data sets available and useful to the CMMI research communities: • create interdisciplinary research teams that can develop prototypes platforms for infrastructure and materials data communities; and • suggest best practices for NSF mandated data management plans.
