Project Details

Description

The Northwestern University Prosthetics-Orthotics Center (NUPOC) is committed to presenting continuing professional education activities that promote improvements or quality in prosthetic and orthotic care and are independent of the control of commercial interests. As part of this commitment, NUPOC outlines below the proposed terms, conditions, and purposes of commercial support from Medi GmbH & Co. KG (“Medi”) for its continuing professional education course on the Northwestern University Flexible Sub-Ischial Vacuum (NU-FlexSIV) Socket. Commercial Support may include financial or “in-kind” contributions given by Medi, which will be used to pay all or part of the costs of the proposed continuing professional education activity. Medi’s payment obligations need to be prior approved by Medi after receipt of an estimate of costs as well as of respective invoices stating the amount to be paid. It is proposed that during the 2015-2016 calendar year, a series of 8 continuing professional education courses will be held throughout Europe to provide hands-on training to qualified prosthetists on a new sub-ischial vacuum socket technique developed at Northwestern University with funding from the Department of Defense (W81XWH-10-1-0744). Medi will provide sponsorship of the course through sponsorship that will cover speaker and meeting expenses, as well as in-kind support of the materials and components required by course participants to successfully fit and fabricate a check socket version of the NU-FlexSIV Socket.
