Data and Research Support Center: Precision Medicine Initiative Cohort Program Coordinating Center (U2C)

Project: Research project

Project Details

Northwestern University (NU) will serve as an arm of the data core for the PMI Coordinating Center and contribute the scientific expertise of our team of investigators. Dr. Kho has deep and practical experience in EHR-based phenotyping, privacy protecting record linkage, and geocoding of patient location for imputation of environmental exposures. He has worked extensively with Dr. Joshua Denny as part of the eMERGE consortium and with Dr. Hripscak as part of the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Network (PCORnet) and co-chaired the initial Informatics WG of eMERGE and the Data Standards, Security, and Network Infrastructure Committee of PCORnet. His group has successfully implemented a privacy preserving record linkage tool to link records for over 5 million patients across the Chicagoland region, which is also now in use in the city of New Orleans. His group has also demonstrated the ability to create small area estimates of disease or environmental exposure using a privacy preserving method to expose only probabilities of events.
