Designing toys and environments for children of all abilities: an innovative, cross-disciplinary approach

Project: Research project

Project Details

Fifteen percent of children in the United States have some type of developmental disability, making it difficult for many of them to access the toys and learning tools that are available to their peers. We are proposing to amplify an existing program that brings together creative minds studying physical therapy and/or engineering to design for children with diverse needs. We intend to give our students the basic knowledge, the client, and the support to design and build a prototype that has potential to be taken to market and bring social change via accessible toys for all children.
