Project Details
Description
Heart failure is a major public health problem that results from acquired and genetic risk factors. These risk factors combine to create abnormal heart muscle function, which can be detected using speckle-tracking echocardiography, a cutting-edge tool for analysis of heart ultrasounds. This study seeks to perform speckletracking echocardiography in population-based studies to further explore the genes and acquired risk factors that result in heart muscle problems, with the ultimate goal of finding new avenues for prevention and treatment of heart failure.
