Project Details
Description
Northwestern University (NU) proposes to partner with the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation on a two-year pilot residency program for artist-scholars who themselves are refugees of Syria or another conflict-ridden country. In each year of the pilot an artist will be fully integrated into the community while in residence at NU. Northwestern will ensure that these visiting artist-scholars have resources and support to continue their creative work. The artist-scholars will contribute to the intellectual vibrancy of the university by teaching and by sharing their art through showings, productions, readings, or whatever form is appropriate for their art.
