Developing imaging-compatible 3D-printed bioresorbable scaffolds

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The goal of this proposal is to develop vascular bioresorbable scaffolds that are manufactured via 3D printing an can be easily visualized via MRI and/or angiography to facilitate the monitoring or visualization of the scaffolds once implanted. The specific aims are to: 1) investigate the use of several compounds to create a composite biomaterial ink that is suitable to print the scaffolds. These include iron oxide nanoparticles and gold nanoparticles. and 2) evaluate the visibility of the scaffolds via MRI or angiography in a rat model.
