Work will be performed by a Post-doc and/or student at the Center for Advanced Regenerative Engineering and the Biomedical Engineering Department at Northwestern University under the direction of Dr. Guillermo Ameer. There is a need to develop better materials that can induce bone growth and the regeneration of soft tissue to bone junctions. A postdoctoral associate, with 100% effort will work on developing polymer formulations for scaffolds to repair segmental bone defects and improve the outcome of rotator cuff repairs. Both, injectable and solide scaffolds will be developed. Dr. Xiaomin Zhang will test the new scaffolds in a rat rotator cuff repair model to screen for the best performing polymer formulation as per biocompatibility and efficacy of the repair.
